Alex & Shannon

Pet Sitters. Dog Parents. Life Partners.

Hi there! We’re Alex and Shannon, a pet-loving duo whose bond is built on a shared passion for animals.

From childhood, we have each always had furry companions by our sides, and our love for animals extended into our relationship when we adopted our first dog together, Luna, in 2018. Luna, who is an anxious and reactive dog, has taught us so much about patience, care, and the importance of advocating for rescue dogs.

In 2020, our pack grew with our adoption of Nova, our resilient tripod dog. Nova has been our greatest teacher when it comes to caring for specially-abled pets.

Together, we’re not just partners in life, but also partners in making sure your pets feel safe, loved, and happy while you’re away.

We can’t wait to meet your pets and give them the same love we give our own!

  • Co-Founder

Shannon is a devoted animal advocate and co-founder of A&S Pet Care. A lifelong animal lover, she grew up in Upton alongside her family pets—a dog named Juno and a cat named Pepper—who inspired her early passion for animal welfare.

With over five years of experience volunteering in animal rescue, Shannon has developed a keen understanding of animal body language and a calming presence that helps soothe anxious pets. Dedicated to supporting animals in need, she is also pursuing a law degree, combining her commitment to animal rights with her expertise in animal care. In her free time, Shannon enjoys reading, exploring nature, and spending time by the water with her partner, Alex, and their two rescue dogs, Luna and Nova.

  • Co-Founder

Alex has been passionate about animals for as long as he can remember. Growing up surrounded by cats in his childhood home, he developed a deep love for animal care. In 2018, he adopted his first dog, Luna, which sparked his commitment to advocating for anxious dogs.

As the co-founder of A&S Pet Care, Alex combines years of hands-on experience with a genuine love for helping animals thrive. Alex approaches pets with a peaceful and relaxed energy, bringing even the most nervous of pets out of their shell (and usually into his lap for some snuggles!) Outside of his work with pets, he enjoys gaming, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and tending to his garden—hobbies that keep him grounded and connected to what he loves most.

How do you handle anxious or shy pets?

It is important to us that we start our relationship off with your pet in a positive way, so at our meet and greet, we will evaluate the best approach to gain your pet’s trust. Their trust may not come during the first visit, and that is okay!

We utilize a positive, fear-free based approach. This means different things for different pets. We always move at your pet’s pace and never force interaction or engagement if it is not wanted.

We are skilled in reading animal body language and use these skills to understand when your pet is feeling comfortable with us.

Please let us know before our initial meet if there is anything in particular your pet responds well, or negatively, to.
